I took the liberty of replacing host this week for mixtape monday as our heroes are still in the middle east listening to the beach boys. I get around like them to bring this to you. Call me DJ OldManBoy as I compile these mixtapes and lay them so easily for you to download. Actually I will take no credit for compiling the mixtapes, in fact we give the credit to the heat packer Marc, no homo. When I proposed to add Diggy’s mixtape he replied, “like i said, our mixtape mondays are always fire bruh”. And after listening to the mixtapes for this week I cannot disagree with that at all.
First up this week is DJ Booth x Kevin Nottingham Present: HiPNOTT Record’s 2010 Takeover (Mixtape). HiPNOTT Record’s 2010 Takeover is a feel-good compilation of various signed and unsigned artists that will give us a nostalgic feeling to reminisce the good ol’ rap days. What you will get from this mixtape is a blend of exclusive and original tracks that challenge even the mainstream artists. Featured artists include Chaundon (Justus League), Guilty Simpson, Kyle Lucas, Joe Scudda, Verbs featuring MURS, El Prez, Truck North (The Roots), Tiye Phoenix, Wax, and Ilyas (Tanya Morgan). HiPNOTT’s signed artists, Cymarshall Law, K. Sparks, Nobody Famous, Trav Williams, JC Poppe and Preach, more than hold their own. Download
Next up we have the magnificent Jay Electronica who just does it like no one else has done it in a while. “In the current state of music, an artist like Jay (Electronica) deserves the attention of anyone who even THINKS they like Hip-Hop. We’re not saying that he’s the savior but he’s been working on the humble for years and Exhibit C opened him up to the world. World, meet Jay Electronica…support his victory for Hip-Hop.” – DJ DUB. “I truly believe that everyman has a story and Jay Electronica’s story is definitely the current soundtrack to Hip-Hop. He makes the impossible seem possible. Dub and I wanted to share his soundtrack with those that were unfamiliar. Let’s welcome back the lyricists to Hip- Hop.” – DJ FURIOUS STYLES. So that’s the reason there’s no track listing huh. Hip hop at it’s roots. I hope you folks appreciate this because this is the best mixtape I have heard in a long long time. Download
And lastly we have the man who recently finished working on We Are Young Money Album, Jae Millz drops a brand new mixtape with DJ Ill Will and DJ Rockstar. Features from T-Streets, to Young Money’s Tyga as well as Gudda Gudda. This mixtape was a bit weak for me and I’m not much of a fan of Jae Millz but we trust in Marc’s recommendation which means he’s hopeful that you guys would like it. Download
And that’s it guys for this week. Download and rate outta 5 in the comments section below. Let us know what you think!
