All the way from the desert, we still steady on the grind with this music thing. Two of my brothers from my hometown manifested there souls into mixtape form. If we add those with the Kendrick Lamar EP from Cali and the Talib Qweli x HI Tek tape by Statik Selektah we have a a full roster of music this week. The best thing about Cholly P is that in addition to his ridiculous flow, is that he will always be original which he shows on “Pretend to be Gangsta”. Che, thats what I call him, makes organic feel good music with an undenyable Southern ride. Which he displays effortlessly with “Swang”. I can’t help but tip my hat to my brother because his grind is infinite and his grow shows everytime he spits. Choice cut on the mixtape for my is “Punch Rhymes” because Cholly not only puts his lyricist hat on, but brings my other brother Mystery on the track to keep it in the family. DOWNLOAD

Which brings me to the second tape, Mystery himself, I personally know he put his soul in this tape just to get it completed. Put your black hoodie on before you put this tape on. He Mystery dares to rhyme on some of the most legendary tracks in hiphop history, and effortlessly steps up to the task. These days rappers wouldnt dare touch the Elevators, Funkdafied,or Computer Love tracks (Let alone even know the Mind Playin Tricks beat) but my dude kills anything they throw at him. I extremely proud of both these gentleman and I hope I can do everything in my power to help them take their passion to even higher levels. DOWNLOAD

And we still have more music! The young man from California, Kendrick Lamar drops a hidden gem this week that most folks probably would have just passed up, but something caught my ears on this one and I was definently not disappointed. The flow from the jump on this one is incedible. I’ve said it before with FaShawn and U-N-I but Kendrick continues to prove it. California has got next. Play this entire tape. DOWNLOAD

And finally the Talib x HI Tek tape is the closer, and if the LP is anything like this tape I will say that Hiphop is back completely, alive and well. Choice cuts “Revolutions per Minute” and “Come Around” and the only reason I dont mention the “Just Begun” track is because I you don’t know by now you will never know. That song is instant classic.
