It's a great week for game releases, because we have some surefire heavy hitters dropping pretty soon. You know the drill by now: I run through the marquee releases of the week and provide my verdict on whether or not you should buy the game, rent it, or just give the demo a quick spin. As usual, these are only opinions and should not be taken very seriously, and as always, you should always try a game out for yourself to see if it's right for you. Having said that, let's get to the judgment!
BioShock remains one of the best experiences to be had this generation. Regardless of what you heard about dated graphics, clunky shooter controls, or a convoluted story, BioShock 2 will be a game worth checking out and spending your money. This time around, you play as the Big Daddy, protecting and fighting for little sisters as you make your way through Rapture. The thing that sets BioShock 2 apart are its plasmids, which offer another dimension of gameplay that you won't get from many other shooters. "Buy this game" is all I can say, because chances are you won't regret it.
The controversial game (in one way or another) by EA should be on your radar. Not because it's an apparent God of War clone (which isn't necessarily a bad thing, because it does its job well), but because it's just plain fun to play. Based on the world-famous poem by Italy's Dante Alighieri, Divine Comedy, this game takes the player through the nine corners of hell, fighting demons and trying to free his lover's soul from the grips of Satan. Whether or not you believe in hell, Lucifer, or religion period, this game is sure to provide a lasting experience for anyone willing to pick up a controller and give it a chance. If it's replay value you're worried about, it's been confirmed that we'll be receiving some co-op DLC somewhere down the line.
It's not that I don't like Super Monkey Ball, I just don't think this game isn't helping its cases in anyone's beliefs that it'll be improving anytime soon. This one looks to be another collection of mini-games and competitive contests (ala Fusion Frenzy or Mario Party) which don't seem all that interesting, to be truthfully honest. For parents, it may be decent enough to break out for an hour of weekly gaming with your little ones, but don't expect them to stay entertained very long if they are over the age of 6.
That's it for this week. A couple of must haves in rotation as gaming finally ramps back up, as there are a ton more great releases headed your way for February leading into March. Check back with us next week Sunday as we rundown the must haves (and the can't plays) of the release schedule.

I agree with the purchase of Bioshock 2, I need to run Mass Effect 2 back with my Level 30 Shepard on Insanity. But I cant wait to play Bioshock 2, the first game had fantastic control, it was Halo smooth, I just dont understand the dislike for this game.
I’ve seen 1 video of Bioshock 2 & dont want to see anymore, I dont want to ruin the experience. I’m all over B2 on Feb 9!
