A few days ago, we analyzed the 140 character tweets of two Ubisoft community managers, which described them as excited to be working on a great new project. We speculated that it could be as big as a new game announcement (like Ghost Recon) or as small as an update to their community site and/or Uplay. We’re happy to report that Ubisoft announced on Xbox Live today the existence and development of a new Ghost Recon game, subtitled Future Soldier.
The company was poised to make this grand announcement on Xbox Live in the form of a teaser, but that didn’t come to fruition at the time of this writing. No more details have been announced, but you can tag the Xbox 360 as one of the platforms this title will be released on (otherwise, an exclusive Xbox Live announcement would be foolish, indeed). When asked about what other platforms the game would be coming to, Ubisoft made haste in letting VG247 know that those details, if any, couldn’t be discussed at this time. The game is being developed by Ubisoft’s Paris studio.
We also learned that the game will be enjoying a public beta, but you’ll have to own a copy of the upcoming Splinter Cell: Conviction to take part in it. The beta will kick off sometime this summer, with the game heading to stores this Holiday season. Already, 2010 is looking to be a great year for games with so many new titles announced just this week, and I’m sure there’s a lot more to come in the next few months.
We’ll pass along more info as it becomes available, as well as the official teaser from Xbox Live (whenever it actually comes up). Full press release is just ahead.
