We haven’t heard much about this game for a long time now. All we knew at one point was that the game existed and that it was once thought to be a PlayStation 3 exclusive. Since then, the tides have changed as we learned that the game was now in development for the Xbox 360 as well. Those details leaked just before the February 2010 issue of GameInformer, which features the game in a 10-page expose with some nice details for those wanting to know more about what Rockstar has been working on.
We’ve learned that this won’t be a run-and-gun shooting experience. The game, in fact, is less of a shooter and more of a cop-thriller, featuring suspenseful sequences where you interview suspects and crime-scene investigation bits that allow you to piece together evidence to aide you in your ongoing investigations. Not taking anything away from the CSI games, this all sounds very well-done as the scenes will be realized in a fully-navigable 3D environment, with clues and evidence being scattered about in such a way that it isn’t made obvious.
One of the most interesting things we’ve learned about the title, though, is the facial animation and interrogation/interview technology. The developer, Team Bondi, is using a new form of motion capture that allows them to capture dialog and facial-animation seamlessly, creating life-like and dynamic scenes that we’ve not seen before. This all sounds entirely too interesting to put in a backseat, so if you haven’t already, be sure to go and grab the latest GameInformer for your reading pleasure.
