In accordance with what we’ve been hearing from Nintendo regarding a new console, new rumors have surfaced regarding a possible successor to the DS line. Gamekult is reporting that Nintendo apparently sent out development kits for the new handheld. We first caught wind of the rumor back in February, where a source disclosed information that Nintendo would be making an unveiling at this year’s Game Development Conference.
Later on, Nintendo-boss Shigeru Miyamoto confirmed that a new piece of hardware was in the works, although he didn’t mention specifics (including when we’d hear more). A Wii HD seemed to be a strong possibility thanks to analyst Michael Pachters strong assurance, but the ball is still in the air. We’re still clinging to a GDC announcement as the steam continues to roll right up to the event which kicks off this March in San Francisco. If any details come from the event, we’ll be sure to make them known here.

apparently the programming will be similar to that of the gamecube, developers who worked with the gamecube/wii will have some background in development meaning that some games will be done before the end of this year. dude87(Quote)
