    On game of the year & there are many games made every year. However, some of those games are horrible on all accounts & shouldn’t be considered for game of the year. In 2009 there were games omitted from the selection of GOTY. My game of the year was Assassins Creed 2 & Halo 3:ODST.  (Quote)

    Activision is completely wrong, big business will cut the throat of a big money earning employee all day. The same thing happened to me 2 years out of college, I tried to sue but the company was one of the largest companies in Illinois. They didn’t want to pay us our projected commission.  (Quote)

    You’re kidding right? New IP’s:
    Bioshock
    Assassins Creed
    Mass Effect
    Gears of War
    Lost Planet
    Left 4 Dead
    All new IP’s & all sold much better than Heavy Rain. Alan Wake will be a new IP & I’m not sold on it at all yet. However, the screens & videos show a much more exciting style of play than the massively overrated Heavy Rain. Alan Wake may outsell Heavy Rains total to date in its 1st day at retail.

    Heavy Rain gets no moral victory from me, its garbage & sold like trash. And where is MAG?  (Quote)

    @tarantula45,

    I do play every game on PS3 & 360 that are important & what I deem to be fantastic or have potential greatness. I dont play the Wii because it isn’t marketed for me, when the Wii drops to $99 I’ll pick it up with Mario Kart & call it a day.

    I answer comments on the 360’s side because to many people take unwarranted shots at the system like its some garbage & I cant take it. However, as much as I talk, I’ll always play games on any system: except the Wii, its for Soccer Moms.

    @Bucnasty,

    I cant wait for the March NPD’s to release so Gow3 could be on top so you can see how important sales are. Gow3 is the truth (not as HipHop truth but somewhere on the Hot level): Also, I’ve yet to see 1 commercial on Gow3 & its going to sell because its a great game!

    I loved it when the PS3 was on fire with their new Slim b-ray player; I mean PS3. You hypocrites talk sooo much s***!, it was great! Now Halo:Reach is going to break the bank & you’re trippin again, whatever.

    Sales matter & Heavy Rain will say bye bye to the NPD’s with its overrated, bad acting, terrible voice acting, linear game playing, bad Resident Evil 1 controlling, horrible facial expression not matching the situation, Ghost Recon 1 car graphics, illusion beautiful “loading Face” watchin, 8 hour short game length playin @ss.

    Terrible sales “most of the times” reflect mediocrity AKA Heavy Rain!  (Quote)

      He got all this from running through a demo with a bias viewpoint going in. That is definitely talent.

      Anyways, Heavy Rain would be place in the underrated category actually. Just because you hear a title once does not mean it is overrated.

    Alan Wake may be linear I dont know, none of us know, also, I’m not sold on Alan Wake. However, Splinter Cell:Conviction isn’t close to linear as there are multiple ways to enter a situation, Many. There are several ways to enter a building, several ways you can attack your objectives…………..Wait for it.

    My problem with linearity, we’ve been there & done that! I expect progression with the power of these consoles today. If games are going to be linear, lets go back to side scrolling.

    I’ll be playing Gow3 also, the game is legit.

    And we’re talking “console exclusive”! The PC has more power than all consoles, also the graphics card cost more than a 360 or PS3, Different ballgame!  (Quote)

    @Tarantula45,

    You’ve just described almost every game made. What I mean by linear is, forcing you down a certain path, every game has an objective, its the variation of ways you have to complete the tasks set for you.

    Mass Effect 2 cant be beaten in 8 hours. As you know, there are several consequences involved in your selections in ME2, that will change your experience in ME3 same for ME1 to ME3. Also, there is zero exploration in Heavy Rain, at least you can play Mass Effect damn near forever.

    @Trill,
    I do know there are different endings in Heavy Rain, once you beat the short game you know everything & can beat it in 5 hours. I’m on my second play-through of Mass Effect 2 & I’m at my 61st hour & haven’t started the help missions for my team, I’m on the first Collectors ship.

    @Trill,
    Also, did the games acting, facial expressions, everything I mentioned up top get any better in the final copy: No! From what I understand from others, the story even has major holes in it, at least no one can or has ever questioned the story in ME2. Also, I’ve yet to beat Heavy Rain & will only judge that on my opinion & not others, for obvious reasons.

    But, I dont know & never judge a game on story because it’s totally subjective & ones opinion of a story isn’t up for question. However, the terribleness I mentioned above is concrete & an action within the game.  (Quote)

    Contradiction – yes.

    Also, I would hope you would play more hours on a RPG than a interactive-movie game. That is not surprising. Once again, you are comparing two complete different games.

    Example of what you are doing:

    “In Street Fighter, I am able to combo my ass off for the victory. However, I throw in Super Mario Bros. and cannot do the same to my enemies. Therefore, SMB is utter trash.”

    Don’t argue apples with oranges. You should have learned that your first year in college.  (Quote)

I dont have to use my resume to discuss video games. & if you think a Marketing Degree is easy, well whatever. You were the one making a clever attempt at insulting my intelligence, I never insult you guys.

    Also, when I comment, I comment on the entire podcast, talking about everything, everything I say is in relation to another, you know, giving a complete answer with examples. I’ll never say a game is bad without giving a thorough reason why, from mechanics, to price, to the end consumer.

    Also, the reason I brought up sales with Heavy Rain, is its the end result of a terrible product! That isn’t my opinion, thats an investors fact!  (Quote)

      We all know that you don’t have to use your resume to discuss video games. The sad thing, though, is that you do just about every other post. My “attempt” was not clever at all; it was truth. Why argue apples with oranges? Shit is pointless.

      The problem is that it was not a complete answer. In fact, unless you are answering a question you asked yourself in your own little word, you were answering nothing. Even if you were randomly commenting on the podcast, I pose the questions again: Where in the podcast did I say anything about sales? Where in the podcast did I say anything about Heavy Rain being successful? (Repeat last cycle)

      Sales have no correlation to how good the game is. I do not know where you got confused about this down the line of your gaming career. As Buc says about every week, according to your silly logic, Wii Fit is basically flawless. That game rests on the peak of gaming. However, we know this is not true.  (Quote)
