The R&B superstar Chris Brown collabs with Young Money artist Tyga on this mixtape effort: Fan of A Fan. The title derives from Chris & Tyga being fans of their fans. For the most part, this was a good mixtape. Especially being that it was free. DJ Rockstar and DJ Ill Will mixed the tracks. The mixtape offers a mixture of tracks where both Chris and Tyga are outside of their common element. Chris Brown is known for his singing and dancing skills, but this mixtape proves that he has rapping capablities. While there are mostly collaborations on the mixtape, it also features individual tracks from both Chris Brown and Tyga. The artwork is blah. Download/Listen

What They Want – Chris raps on this track, and it sounds forced…I can envision the “With You” singer acting like a rapper.

Drop Top Girl – This was a cool track. Nice vocals from Chris and cool rhymes from Tyga. I think he should have added one more verse to the song though.

Deuces F. Kevin McCall – I heard this track a week ago, and I put it in current rotation. Chris did a great job on the vocals on this track, and Tyga or Kevin’s verse isn’t clouded by Chris’s vocals.

No Bullshit – It’s an ok track. If the production were better the overall song could have been more effective. Only Chris is featured on this song. He’s singing about the way he can have sex with a girl and that he don’t want any BS about what’s about to take place. “I’ll make you cum over and over again…we can do it all night…”

48 Bar Rap – This is a very mature track. Chris tackles it alone and I must say he went in! And it is as the title implies, a 48 bar rap… If he can bring heat like that, I salute him.

Ballin F. Kevin McCall – This was just wack. “Um ballin like a bitch” Next!

Ain’t Thinkin Bout You F. Bow Wow
I like this song. And as the title states, he ain’t thinking bout you…but why the jabs at Rihanna? The producer throws in Rihanna’s signature ‘eh eh eh’ in the background after part of the lyrics and Chris is clearly singing about her. “[u] gotta ball player but a nigga ain’t trippin and I ain’t saying that he don’t love you but I don’t think he loves you like I do” Hmm interesting. Oh yeah! Bow Wow isn’t on this track. I wonder what happened with that… UPDATE (5/21) Bow Wow is on the song…I thought it was Tyga. *shrugs*

Like A Virgin Again F. Kevin McCall – Very hot track! The females are going to eat this up. Parts of the adlib editing was unnecessary, but this is a hot track nonetheless. I don’t know why, but the entire time I was listening to this, I was expecting to hear Ciara pop up on the track. *shrugs*

Have It F. Kevin McCall – idk, this track did nothing for me.

Number One – The production sucks and Chris’s vocals can’t save this track. I can’t listen because of a drum or something that irritates the hell out of me.

Make Love – It’s ok. Basic track. Nothing special. Not good/not bad.

I’m So Raw – Tyga went in on this track. With no assistance from Chris, he doesn’t seem as a mere feature. The beat is dope as well.

I’m On It –This track did nothing for me. Where did Wayne come from on the last verse? IDK but he didn’t save this track. Good lyrics on a blah song.

Movin 2 Fast – This is a really chill track. Tyga took on this joint alone and this is the sound he should go for.

Regular Girl – The mood of this track is similar to “Movin 2 Fast” and again, this is Tyga’s niche! He doesn’t sound like a feature on this track, because Chris isn’t over-singing or using unnecessary runs. The beat is sooo chill! Easily my favorite.

G Shit – It’s a cool track produced by Jahlil Beats. The song sounds good.

Holla @ Me – (video) Another track produced by Jahlil Beats. I love the dynamic beat and Chris really shows that he can spit on this track. Only thing that got me was Tyga’s shout out to Kat Stacks…why? “I bag bad bitches muthafucka Kat Stacks” or is that a diss to her? IDK

Genius Tracks: Deuces, 48 Bar Rap, Like A Virgin Again, Regular Girl

Skips: Ballin, Have It, Number One

Overall, Chris Brown & Tyga’s mixtape, Fan of a Fan, recieves C+ on the Genius Report.

Tyga doesn’t shout out Kat Stacks, he basically says she isn’t worth his time, he says:

“I bag bad bitches, mother fuck a Kat Stacks.”  (Quote)

      O ok…I guess I didn’t listen carefully enough.
Technically he’s still shouting her out, because in her case, any publicity is good publicity.  (Quote)

I listen to rap music. And I’m also painfully honest. So the fact that Chris Brown raps now only makes sense. Both Biggie and Big Pun were known wife beaters yet we still call them the greatest of their time in this craft. And Tyga no matter how homo his name is reps LA hard. I have to admit…this mixtape had good points. Surprising good points, but still… Good points.  (Quote)
