Madden NFL Superstars (Facebook) Impressions
It's been around a month and a half since Madden NFL 11 hit store shelves and EA's already boasting the accolades we knew they'd rack up with it (with the most important - to them - being that it's the best selling football game in August alone). That's not what we're here to talk about, though: we're here to talk about Madden NFL Superstars - a new game for Facebook created by Playfish in conjunction with EA Sports for Madden and Football fans alike.
Approach this game how you approach most ...
New Xbox 360 Controller Tailors to Fighting Fans
Microsoft's introducing a new controller for the Xbox 360 that they hope will curb the frustration of fighting game fans who aren't particularly keen on using fighting sticks. The biggest change they've made to the controller is in the directional pad. Before, the pad was just one big block with recessed grooves in four corners of the circle to create the feel of a d-pad. This doesn't work for one big reason: it's hard to tell exactly which direction you're pressing on the d-pad (especially if t...
Xbox Live Price Hiked to $60, I Question Why
I don't even need much of an introduction because the story ends in the title: Microsoft is announcing that - starting November 1st - Xbox Live will cost $60 if you want to take advantage of their "premium" features for 12 months. Xbox Live's Major Nelson attempts to explain the change on his blog with the following statement:
Since launching Xbox LIVE in 2002 we have continually added more content and entertainment experiences for our members, while keeping the price the same. We’re confiden...
Golden Sun: Dark Dawn Finally Seeing the Light of Day This November
It's been far too long since we've gotten a new Golden Sun game. I can't even pull from memory the exact last time we've seen one, but Nintendo's finally ready to keep the series going as they've announced that the third game in the series won't be pushed into 2011: we should be seeing Golden Sun: Dark Dawn hit shelves November 29th for DS handhelds everywhere.
The game takes place 30 years after the events in the last game - The Lost Age: funny as it felt like nearly 30 years waiting for the...
DSi and DSi XL Get Price Drops to Make Room for 3DS
As we're accustomed to with any gaming platform these days, Nintendo's announcing the price drops of two of their current Nintendo DS models - the DSi and the larger XL version of it. The DSi will soon retail for $149.99 down from $169.99. The DSi XL will see the same $20 decrease - $169.00 down from $189.99. The DS Lite will remain $129.99.
Nintendo's Cammie Dunaway attempts to describe the move by stating:
Our new Nintendo DSi prices make it easier than ever for consumers to access the tre...
Ultimate Ninja Storm 2 Demo Released For All Regions
The only way you were going to play the Ultimate Ninja Storm 2 demo before today was by creating a Japanese account on Xbox Live or PSN, but today they've opened it up to all regions for download. A lot of people are interested in this game after being disappointed with the downward spiral we've been faced with from the Shonen Jump games (with the biggest example being in Broken Bond's gameplay).
Shippuden: UMS2 brings us the matured Naruto universe with arguably the most authenticity to date...
NBA 2K11’s Jordan Challenges Detailed
2KSports has been stopping by the offices of journalists this week to show off more of the Jordan Challenge in NBA 2K11 we've been hearing about for a while. We know they're trying to allow you to emulate Jordan's most crucial performances throughout his storied career, but taking a look at this full list of games and winning conditions should do even more to get you excited for NBA 2K11. Take a look at the full list below.

LittleBigPlanet 2 Dated For November
LittleBigPlanet 2's finally received a release date. This November 16th, PlayStation 3 owners will be able to break their sackboys (um... yea, no jokes please) out to take them through even bigger and better side-scrolling courses as they taunt their friends lagging behind. LittleBigPlanet 2 will also be receiving a special edition for the hardest of hardcore: throw down $79.99 to get some special in-game costumes, a life-sized Sackboy doll (considering they're small in nature, it probably won...
Halo Reach Forge World Vidoc Released, Legendary Edition Gets Unboxed
The forge mode in Halo has quickly become one of the best parts of diving into the spartan experience. Bungie's not forgotten that, of course, and they're doing everything to ensure Halo Reach's forge features - being called "Forge World" - is the most comprehensive suite of tools that forge users of all kinds have ever seen.
What's so remarkable about what they're offering here is you're not just being given a small sandbox in which to create your death chamber. Instead, you're being given a...
James Bond 007: Blood Stone Headed Our Way This Holiday Season
Although Activision's first attempt at a Bond game wasn't met with the loudest fanfare we've ever heard, it was an admirable attempt at rebooting the franchise under their wing. Treyarch taking the reigns for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 versions between their bi-yearly iteration of Call of Duty wasn't the worst experience ever, but Activision's shaking things up a bit for their latest.
Being developed under Bizarre Creations (the Blur and PGR guys, as I call them), Blood Stone will have an...
Sony Bringing Swords and Soldiers to PSN this Fall
Ronimo Games is announcing that their Castle Crashers-like side-scrolling game - Swords and Soldiers - will see a release on PSN this fall as a downloadable title. The once-exclusive (to WiiWare) title features gameplay that puts you into the shoes of Viking, Aztec, and Chinese armies to lay anything in your path to rest (Because who doesn't like killing for the sake of it?).
It's being billed as a real-time-strategy game, but I don't know if that's the most appropriate way to describe it. ...
Ghost Recon: Future Soldier Details Begin To Emerge
The exciting announcement of the latest Ghost Recon game was followed without much information: we got a release date and a logo. It seems that's because OPM has the exclusive on Future Soldier and some new details have emerged. The biggest info to be had out of all this is that Ghost Recon will feature a 4-player cooperative campaign with drop in/out ability (think Borderlands). Perhaps the biggest disappointment, though, is that there will not be squad commands for single player. We suspect th...
The Man Meets The Made Man In This Mafia 2 Trailer
2K Games' Mafia 2 is shaping up to look like one beast of a game. After another delay to the title's release, it seems like they're making it up to fans by bringing us this great looking trailer which includes a nice mixture of great looking in-game cutscenes and very clean looking gameplay. Whatever their reasons are for delaying this game so much (with its initial release supposed to fall somewhere within the fall 2009 window) it looks like all of that extra time is not going to waste.
The ...
New Socom 4 Teaser And Director Commentary To Feast Your Eyes On
Sony's continuing the momentum from their Socom 4 announcement early yesterday (late yesterday for those in the UK) and they've released the first teaser for the sequel. The trailer first premiered on GameTrailers TV where host Geoff Keighley forced thousands of eager fans to wait through 30 minutes of content to get to what we've been waiting for.
The trailer doesn't show much and the entire thing was done in CG (intentionally for stylistic purposes), but it should be enough to get any Soc...
