  • Asphalt 5 – Android Review
    by Adrian Pottinger
    Posted August 30th, 2010 at 11:41 am
Mobile gaming is here to stay! So here at AnalogHype, we decided its only appropriate to review mobile games as well. It's only fitting to kick things off with one the most popular mobile racing game series, Asphalt. The latest entry into the Asphalt series is Asphalt 5, which recently made it over to the Android mobile OS. What’s the best way to describe Asphalt 5? First thing that comes to mind is adrenaline rush in your hand. Asphalt 5 definitely delivers with a strong sense of speed. But,...
  • Madden 11 Review
    by Keem J.
    Posted August 30th, 2010 at 12:49 am
For those who have played Madden in the past, know that there are very few games that are as complicated. With this installment into the Madden franchise, it seems as if EA Sports has realized the complicity of their game and tailored Madden 11 to be more accessible to the players. Will the step back in complicity effect the overall feel of Madden? You’ll have to read on to find out. (more...)...
  • First Impression: HAWX 2 Demo (Xbox 360)
    by Ryn Storm
    Posted August 16th, 2010 at 6:43 pm
As the Editor of anything Sports Entertainment here at Analoghype, I sometimes crave a change. So after looking across the site I noticed, nobody had covered today's release of Tom Clancy's HAWX 2 demo. So I said to myself. Well its time I put down Smackdown Vs Raw 2008 and check out the latest and greatest in the Tom Clancy series. Now for those of you who have been living under a rock for the past 20 years, Tom Clancy is one of the most fell known Sci-Fi/Fiction writers to ever grace this eart...
  • Castlevania: Harmony Of Despair Review
    by Jason.Joseph
    Posted August 9th, 2010 at 10:49 am
Castlevania is one of the most storied franchises in all of gaming. I can remember being a kid and having nightmares about it. Hey, I was eight. I haven’t really kept up with the series beyond the first couple releases, as I never really cared much about the Gameboy, never owned a N64 and by the time the franchise hit the PS2’s and XBox’s of the world, I had sort of moved on. With this year’s XBox Summer of Arcade upon us, the opportunity was there to check out the latest addition to the...
  • NCAA Football 2011 Review
    by Jason.Joseph
    Posted July 29th, 2010 at 8:36 am
College football is big business. Spending the majority of my teenage and adult life in New England, it’s something I always understood, but never really got to experience myself. Sure, we have Boston College, but being completely realistic, no one around here ever cares about them until they are contending for a National Title. Of course, that happened just once with a guy named Matt Ryan playing quarterback. It wasn’t until I made the move to Jacksonville, Florida in 2005 that I truly unde...
  • Medal Of Honor Beta Impressions
    by Jason.Joseph
    Posted July 25th, 2010 at 8:54 pm
Finally, after a month of delays, pre-order drama and ridiculousness, the multi-player beta for the reboot of the Medal Of Honor series from EA is downloaded on my harddrive. I have been pretty excited about this game, as it really looks like EA and Danger Close have been going all out to make sure Medal Of Honor reclaims its thrown as the king of the first person shooter. Adding to the excitement is the fact that that the developers from the Battlefield series, DICE, were brought on board to ha...
  • Crackdown 2 Review
    by Jason.Joseph
    Posted July 8th, 2010 at 4:06 pm
I was a little late getting on the Crackdown bandwagon. When it was launched as a new IP, I just wasn’t that into shooter style games, so it was a really easy pass for me. To be completely honest, I don’t think most people that actually bought the first Crackdown actually bought it for the game so much as they bought it to gain access to the Halo 3 beta that came with it. I know I had a few friends that did it, but again, still not enough of an appeal for me. Fast forward a few years and in ...
  • Battlefield: Bad Company 2 Onslaught Mode Review
    by Jason.Joseph
    Posted July 4th, 2010 at 7:28 am
If you haven’t gotten on board the Battlefield: Bad Company 2 bandwagon, what the hell are you waiting for? This game is simply the best first person shooter experience on the market. The entire Analog Hype crew likes to squad up and lay waste to everything that gets in our way, and since teamwork is so important to the Battlefield experience, I couldn’t think of a better crew to run with. Building off that teamwork mentality, BF:BC2 developer DICE has recently released their first premium e...
  • Review: Transformers: The War For Cybertron
    by Jason.Joseph
    Posted June 26th, 2010 at 9:32 am
Alright folks, a nerdgasm alert is in full effect. Nothing quite beats being a child of the 80’s, as the innovation and imagination of the era is still defining culture today. Like many dudes that grew up during that stretch (and especially in this industry), I still find myself completely addicted and fixated on the legends of my childhood. I mean, nothing beats our cartoons. All you 90’s kids can sit down and shut up with your Power Rangers and Ninja Turtles, because the C List stuff that ...
  • Review: Sandlot Sluggers
    by Jason.Joseph
    Posted June 9th, 2010 at 8:55 am
No… this is not a joke. I am actually reviewing Sandlot Sluggers. I can already sense all of you burning holes through your monitors as you stare at the screen in a bizarre cross between amazement and bewilderedness, so hear me out. I actually think this is a pretty relevant review, and I am going to review it from a completely different perspective then I would other video games. The reason is simple, and that is because there is a definitely an allure to dropping 30 bucks to grab this game. ...
  • Iron Man 2 review
    by Jason.Joseph
    Posted May 23rd, 2010 at 6:55 pm
Whenever a blockbuster is being made, movie tie-ins are sure to follow, and to that effect, Ironman 2 has been no different than any other blockbuster in recent memory. Action figures, t-shirts, soda bottles, just about anything you can think of has seen a picture of the tin man strewn across it, so it should come as no surprise to see Iron Man 2: the video game is also in the repertoire. The game released in context with the first movie was a complete flop, as most movie tie-in games tend to be...
  • Red Dead Redemption Review
    by Jason.Joseph
    Posted May 22nd, 2010 at 11:03 am
Hollywood was pretty much created on the back of the Old West. Many of the early heroes of movie folklore were stars of Western films. John Wayne, Ronald Reagan, Clint Eastwood, Gene Autry, Roy Rogers; so many of the biggest stars of the industry made their name and cut their teeth on Western films. The Old West has inspired music, literature, TV shows and radio programs alike, and is one of the most depicted instances through all forms of media in entertainment history. With all of that said, t...
  • Alan Wake Review
    by Keem J.
    Posted May 16th, 2010 at 5:52 pm
Long in development, and bearing a strong ancestry, Alan Wake is finally here. The game may give off a lofty mood but it has a strong emphasis on action and it's just as exciting as it is frightening. I guess you could expect as much from the people that brought us Max Payne, but was it worth the wait? You play as Alan Wake, a successful author that's suffering from a potentially deadly case of writers block. Hoping to get away and gather himself, he takes his wife to the barely populated...
  • Tecmo Bowl Throwback review
    by Jason.Joseph
    Posted April 29th, 2010 at 4:03 pm
I am definitely a child of the 80’s. When Transformers and GI Joe hit the big screen, I was stoked.  I even have a killer collection of many of my childhood action figures. OK, maybe I shouldn’t brag about that in public. Needless to say, when I heard they were bringing back Tecmo Bowl on XBox Live, I was all over it. I didn’t have the first one, but Tecmo Super Bowl was one of the first sports games I ever owned. I would always play as New England or New Orleans. I can remember vividly t...
  • Chime Review
    by David Leavitt
    Posted April 28th, 2010 at 9:57 am
Developed by Zoë Mode, Chime is one of the most creative puzzle games available from the Xbox Live Arcade. In Chime players place Tetris-like blocks on a grid to create “quads”  with the goal of obtaining 100% coverage of the map. The background music of Chime is indirectly controlled by the player. The shape (and size) of quads made, plus the percentage of coverage on each level contributes to add different elements to the music. The soundtrack of Chime is a groovy mix of trance by ar...
