What a day at PAX East 2013. Saturday is traditionally the busiest day of the show, and this year was no exception. I dedicated the entire day to seeking out the best cosplayers in the show and snapped a ton of photos. It was such a pleasure to interact and mingle with everyone, and it was easy to see how much hard work went into the costumes. I was also excited to see a lot of Borderlands cosplay, including a bunch of characters I wouldn’t have expected. Awesome! Alright, you didn’t come here to see me writing a bunch of words, so let’s get right down to it.
I did a pretty cool video of one of the cosplay’s that caught my eye as it came in. It looked to be a robot, but as it turns out, there was someone inside. I’ve been told it was supposed to be Clockwork Droid from Dr. Who. Pretty cool video:
Here are many of the amazing cosplay costumes from Day 2 of PAX East 2013 (click here for Day 1):
Day 1 is in the books and I am about to walk out the door for Day 2, but not before hitting everyone with everything I saw during Day 1. I don’t have nearly enough time to do a full write up, so for now, enjoy the show and expect a ton more when everything settles down. I’m having a blast at the show and have gotten to check out Watch Dogs, Splinter Cell: Blacklist, Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag, League Of Legends, Remember Me, Dead Island: Riptide and a whole lot more. Today I plan on checking out Saints Row IV! Enjoy the photos and expect a ton more to come. Also, check out some of our other articles from Day 1:
So one of the games I was on the lookout for at PAX East 2013 was definitely Dungeon Defenders II. It wasn’t so much the game itself, which by the way, is absolutely fantastic, but it was more for my awesome former roommate Jake. Jake is working at Trendy Entertainment and is at the show, and he’s pretty hard to miss. We go all the way back to our days at Worcester State University where in his spare time, he was dunking on fools for the Lancer basketball team. Nowadays, he dunking on fools as the bruising Spirit Warrior for Dungeon Defenders II. The game is launching in July and was a smash success at PAX East. I got a chance to check it out for a bit and I plan on actually sitting down with it some more today. The game looks like it has a lot of League Of Legends to it, so I have no doubt if you’re a fan there, you’ll love this. There is nothing mini about Jake, as he stands in at 6’10, but we did do a mini interview, and you can check it out below. Hopefully we’ll have some beta codes we can give away later, so look out, and for more information about Dungeon Defenders II, check out their website.
One of the biggest pastimes of convention going is getting dressed up as your favorite character. Whether it be comic books, Star Wars/Trek or in this case, video games, so much time and effort goes in to creating the perfect outfit that could steal the show. My goal for Day 1 of PAX East 2013 was to simply take as many photos as I could of all the booths and games and using Day 2 to snap some shots of people in cosplay, but there were too many awesome costumes to pass up. I particularly had a soft spot for anyone dressed up as their favorite Vault Hunter from Borderlands and Borderlands 2. Here is just a small sample of some of the talented and amazing cosplay from Day 1 of PAX East. As stated, it will be my focus today, so expect a ton more to come (with apologies to those who had Friday only passes).
League Of Legends has exploded into the world of gaming, and with each passing day, it is becoming a force to be reckoned with. This has become especially obvious each year at PAX East, as their stage and setup becomes bigger and bigger and their crowds become louder and louder. This year, the folks from Riot Games had prime real estate on the showroom floor, as their booth area was literally one of the first things event goers would see as they made their way down into the showroom floor. Below you will find a quick walk around of their huge area that clearly wasn’t big enough, along with a few photos. I am pretty sure this area is the biggest in the building dedicated to just one game. I even managed to unknowingly snap a shot of the infamous JD_2020, now of Riot Games. I mean, his shirt made him pretty hard to miss, which is ironic considering I didn’t notice until I started looking through the pictures. I’ll try to get some better video tomorrow.
So Day 1 of PAX East is in the books and I am currently sorting through several hundred photos and a bunch of video. I was really excited to meet up with our friends Caleb and Skelly at the show and we took a few minutes to recap our days during a special gathering after the show for media and exhibitors. My old roommate Jake even stopped by for a cameo. You should check out his game Dungeon Defenders II! The Sam Adams was flowing and we talked about all our favorite games of Day 1, including Watch Dogs, Remember Me, The Elder Scrolls Online, Ascend: New Gods, Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag and a whole bunch more! Stay tuned for a TON more content soon to come. Also, make sure you check out Caleb and Skelly over at 2nd Opinion Pod!
Nearly twenty years ago, I played one of my favorite 8-bit game, Ducktales. Well Capcom today announced during its PAX East panel that Ducktales remastered is coming to Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and Wii U. The game looks beautiful in full blown high definition and redrawn characters. Take a look at the trailer and try not to sing along!
Be on the look out, we’re going to PAX East 2013! The event starts tomorrow and we are STOKED to get our hands on some of the amazing upcoming games of 2013 and beyond. By we I mean me by the way, but everyone else will be with me in spirit. PAX Prime though, watch out. We’re bringing the whole crew. I am super excited to get my hands or even generally just check out Watch Dogs, Assassin’s Creed IV, Splinter Cell: Blacklist, The Elder Scrolls Online, Saints Row IV, Dead Island: Riptide and hopefully, maybe, possibly if it is there, Remember Me. I’ll be talking to Ubisoft and Dark Horse Comics for sure. The entire weekend should be great and you should see a TON of content coming from us soon. If you see me at the show, feel free to say what’s up and ask for your free high five! I’m the better looking dude on the left.
