1st and 10: War For Cybertron
With the Transformers movies doing so well in theaters, and the console adaptations lacking so much, it feels good to see a game not based on a movie for a change. Transformers War For Cybertron is a gem of a game and well worth a play through as both the Autobots and the Decpticons. In this episode of 1st and 10, I have put together the first ten minutes of each campaign in these two videos. That's right, two campaigns for the price of one! Check them out and tell us what you think, and of cour...

Dante’s Inferno Review
What’s the HYPE!
YES it plays like God of War, YES it feels like God of War, but it is NOT God of War. God of War is a fantastic series, and Dante’s Inferno uses the blueprints laid out by God of War, and tries to expand on it by introducing its own take and style on the genre. The question is, has Visceral Games (Dead Space) done a good job, have they made a game that stands on its own, or is Dante’s Inferno a poor man’s God of War.
Players assume the role of Dante, who descen...

SCEE Reveals FirstPlay
In confirmation to what we reported on year, SCEE has revealed its European version of Qore named FirstPlay. Future Publishing will be producing the content for the magazine show on the PSN.
FirstPlay will be available as a weekly download - a lot more content than the monthly offering that Qore provides. Weekly episodes will be available to buy at £8.99 on a three-month sub or 99p per episode. The first issue of the digital FirstPlay will be out next month, although no date has been given....

Heavy Rain is “a gamble” according to Sony
Speaking with CVG recently, SCEE have gone on record to say that they are taking a gamble by releasing Heavy Rain on the PS3. A gamble that the publisher feels will be a success.
Lucy Duncan product manager, said that “Being Sony, I suppose we have a little more luxury to take a gamble on more original and innovative IP – and Heavy Rain definitely fits that category,”.
Sony has a history of publishing games that other publisher would not publish like ICO, Shadow of Colossus and flowe...

EA Ensures Fans That Dead Space Online Will Be Great
Analoghype got the opportunity to interview an EA rep on all things EA, at a recent hands on event for Mass Effect 2. One of the questions we put to the EA rep was, did Dead Space 2 need online, or was online introduced due to the growing demands for games to feature online components this gen. The EA rep told us that the online component that will be introduced into Dead Space 2 will be of the same high quality as the single player component.
The rep also told us that he had seen some ...

Sony & Microsoft exclusives do battle on the same days
Looks like Sony and Microsoft are wasting no time in battling it out in 2010, the year has just began but already both companies have big exclusives coming out. Sony and Microsoft tend not to releases their exclusives on the same day as one another, but this year things seem to be different due to the fact that a few of Microsoft's exclusives are not being published by Microsoft, but instead third party publishers.
The first clash starts in a few weeks time, on January 26th between S...

The Beatles: Rock Band Review
I have been playing the hell out of The Beatles Rock Band on the Xbox 360 and have greatly enjoyed it. In fact, the amount that I have enjoyed it befuddles me since I have been playing games of its genre for years now. I own and play The Beatles Rock Band regularly. I even played Guitar Freaks in arcades and Frequency on the PS2 (don't sleep, it is an ill game). For some reason, The Beatles Rock Band just seems like a vastly superior experience to its predecessor, even though Developer...

Borderlands Review
FPSs and RPGs are staple genres in gaming. They have been used over and over again. These genres have been used to the point of exhaustion. There are a few new IPs that are expanding and reinventing these genres. Enter Gearbox Software and 2K Games with the sleeper hit, Borderlands. This game successfully combines the two previously mentioned genres into one. Gearbox themselves call the game a RPS (role-playing shooter). The irony is, that is not the only thing that makes it uniq...

NBA 2K10 Review (post patch)
The NBA 2K series has been around for a decade now. I still remember playing the initial entry for this and its football counterpart on the Sega Dreamcast (which I still own and play, Jet Grind Radio FTW). I was hooked right away. The realism and skill required was seen in no other basketball game before it. Since then, I have played numerous iterations in this franchise and even got hooked on the college basketball series (R.I.P.). Oddly, NBA 2K10: Draft Combine was the first basketba...

Over 1,000 songs now available for the Rock Band Platform
With only four releases on home consoles (Rock Band, Rock Band 2, LEGO Rock Band, and The Beatles: Rock Band), the people over at Harmonix and MTV Games have announced that over one thousand songs are available in Rock Band. The amazing speed at which they amassed this bounty of tracks is no doubt due mainly to the avid support given to downloadable content for this franchise. I myself have Rock Band 2 with Rock Band 1 imported and tons of DLC tracks. As I write this I am about to downlo...

Rock Band and Old Navy joining forces this holiday season
At first look, this pairing doesn't seem to make a lot of sense. Post viewing the details of the collaboration, my thoughts have changed. Think about it, even gamers need to wear clothes right? Seriously though, this move allows MTV Games and Harmonix to reach a crowd of shoppers that might not have been accessible to them. Old Navy benefits by having a huge draw to make their stores standout this holiday shopping season. The real beneficaries are the fans/shoppers who get to enjoy som...

House: PS3 Euro vid store to grow by “50 movies per week”
SCEE boss Andrew House has told GI that the European PS3 Video Delivery Service (VDS) will grow by around 50 films per week. The European PS3 Video Store is released today in most parts of Europe including the UK. House explained that SCEE would be following the template set out by the US, which has increased its offering "something like 700 per cent" since its launch 15 months ago. "It'll be a little bit more complex, because we're trying to maintain that mix between Hollywood content as well...
