Deep Silver Announces Sacred Citadel Coming to XBLA/PSN

Not too sure exactly what’s going on here, but it looks like Deep Silver is taking the Sacred franchise a little off course for something a little different. If you were looking for Sacred 3, there is no reason to be alarmed, because that is still coming in 2013, but as a lead-in to the start of the next full chapter in the Sacred mythos, Deep Silver is having a little fun with a side-scrolling XBLA/PSN title Sacred Citadel. The reaction so far has been that of confusion, but as someone with no attachment to the Sacred franchise whatsoever, I say this like pretty cool. I find myself instantly drawn to the art style and I think this is a really awesome way to get the Sacred name out there to a lot of people that may not have played the first two games. Sacred Citadel will feature co-op and will serve as a bit of a prequel for the more anticipated full release of Sacred 3. I say give it a chance, and start by checking out the debut trailer below. There is no release date as of yet, but we’ll certainly let you know more as information becomes available.
