Medal of Honor Announced, Revealed at VGAs
EA announced that Medal of Honor would be getting a franchise reboot as it makes its way onto the current generation of consoles. The good news is that they have finally broken out of the World War II mold! The game will be a modern war experience (sound familiar?) and will take you through the life of the Tier 1 Operators: a group that handles military directives, objectives, and missions that no other entity can handle.
Executive Producer Greg Goodrich says:
“When we first set out to reinvent Medal of Honor, we wanted to stay true to its roots of authenticity and respect for the soldier but bring it into today’s war. The Tier 1 Operator is the most disciplined, deliberate and prepared warrior on the battlefield. He is a living, breathing, precision instrument of war. We are honored to have the rare opportunity to work closely with these men to create a game that shares their experience.”
The game, which is being developed for the PC, PlayStation 3, and Xbox 360, will be revealed at this year’s Spike TV Video Game Awards show. EA boasts that they’ll have one of the best single player experiences you’ll see in a war game, with a great multiplayer, to boot (which is being headed up by EA DICE, the guys who do Battlefield).
Sean Decker from EALA says:
“EA has always been an advocate for telling the soldiers’ story. The new Medal of Honor follows that tradition. We felt it was important to tell the story of today’s war and today’s elite soldiers via today’s most relevant medium – videogames. We are so proud to bring together two powerhouse development teams to make this game a reality; EA Los Angeles and EA DICE. Medal of Honor promises to be an unforgettable entry in the modern shooter genre.”
The game will be set in Afghanistan, a touchy location for any game to be set in (Six Days of Fallujah, anyone?). We’ll be sure to fill you in on any more information as it becomes available. In the meantime, let your eyes wander below for the full press details.
Guildford, UK – December 2, 2009 – Medal of Honor™ returns to the front lines, this time in today’s war. For the first time in the franchise’s 10-year history, Medal of Honor is leaving the WWII theatre and putting players in war-torn Afghanistan. Electronic Arts Inc. (NASDAQ: ERTS) today revealed that in 2010, Medal of Honor, an all-new first-person shooter game, will introduce the Tier 1 Operator: a relatively unknown entity directly under the National Command Authority who takes on missions no one else can handle. The development team has been working closely with Tier 1 Operators from the US Special Operations Community since the earliest stages of development to create the most authentic modern war experience. Set against the backdrop of a rugged and brutal landscape, Medal of Honor depicts modern military operations through the lens of a small band of fictional characters. Inspired by real events, Medal of Honor reveals the mission of today’s most elite soldier – his will, his mindset and his uncompromising professionalism.
Medal of Honor is being built with a best-in-class single-player campaign. The Medal of Honor development team at EALA has been hand-selected by the studio leadership of General Manager Sean Decker, Executive Producer Greg Goodrich and Senior Creative Director Rich Farrelly. To compliment the single-player experience, EALA has enlisted the multiplayer expertise at EA DICE. This team will develop the multiplayer experience of Medal of Honor. These two studios are coming together to deliver a world-class Medal of Honor that is poised to re-set and re-boot the franchise for a new generation.

Tune in to Spike TV’s 2009 Video Game Awards on Saturday, December 12 at 8pm PST for a world-premier first-look at Medal of Honor.
I hope this one is better, the predecessors went down and you know why, single player was so automated that in some parts of the game the only thing you do is following instructions and press the mouse left button, they were so simple, same graphic engine and i think the programmers found that out, or that, or they got rid of the game test team, lol, well , lets wait and see, while we wait why not trying BATTLEFIELD BAD COMPANY 2 FOR PC, it will be the best online shooter of all times, forget about MW2, Call of duty games are all the same, they only thing that changes are the graphics and the maps, nothing new in Modern warfare 2. LONG LIFE TO BATTLEFIELD
yes at last!
I'll finally get back into MoH games.
I'm so farking sick and tired of WW2 games man, always the same thing.
EA knew that people are interested in modern war, that's why MW2 did so go.
And they fear their Classic WW2 game may be in-danger to sales.
I bet they were working on another trash WW2 game, but when they found out the sales for MW2, they had to scrap it and make a new Modern war game.
hopefully it will be on par with MoH's frontline and before, if its anything like the latest bunch it will flop
At first, I was thinking, "Meh," 'till I read that DICE is making the multiplayer. Interest jumped and I was surprised. Can't wait to see more! Dislike previous MoH gameplay but this may be different.
