One Gamer Is Considering Filing A Class Action Lawsuit Against Bioware
When do you decide that “enough is enough” and it’s time to stand up for what you believe in? Well, judging by this recent post on the Bioware forums, you decide that once a company has tarnished a game you loved. Mass Effect 3′s ending has been blown way out of proportion. Sure, there are plot holes and several inconsistencies, but those aren’t reasons to sue anybody, right?
Apparently not considering a passionate fan of the Mass Effect series is considering suing Bioware. Yes, you read that right, somebody might sue Bioware because of the ending to Mass Effect 3. The user SLICKK has taken the time to compile an extensive list of pre-release quotes from the many interviews, and promotions Bioware provided leading up to the release of Mass Effect 3. Some of the quotes that SLICKK has taken note of do make it seem like Bioware anticipated the backlash they would receive from the fans of the Mass Effect series, but even so, this shouldn’t require legal action!
I understand where the fans are coming from, they wanted a good ending, something that would tie up the story line while also providing a memorable piece that could be replayed for years to come. Instead, the fans received a game riddled with plot holes, and an open-ended “conclusion” that only brought forth more unanswered questions. Whether or not the fans will be given answers to these questions, or even more suitable endings, is anybody’s guess. Even so, dissatisfaction from the conclusion of a video game series should not push anybody – even the most devout of fans – to the point where suing the developer even crosses their mind. We have long passed the point where this issue was amusing, now it’s just sad and unnecessary. Head on over to the Bioware forums to see the full list of quotes that SLICKK has compiled.
