The PlayStation Pulse Stereo Headset Is Coming Next Week

Earlier this year, we were treated to a rather pleasing announcement; there was a new PS3 headset in the making. Following last year’s release, we were introduced to the PlayStation Pulse Wireless Stereo Headset: Elite Edition – because long titles aren’t cool unless they have “Elite” on them. How does this differ from the one you bought last year you ask? Well for one, it’s more stylish than the previous model, featuring a chrome-tinted side panel, and a microphone that has been embedded into one of the earphones. The most impressive improvement is the fact that this headset transcends the limitations found in various other headsets on the market.

When hooked up to a PlayStation 3, the new ear cups of the headset vibrate, simulating the sound given off from the numerous explosions or base-pumping noises you’ll hear in your games. This feature alone sets it on another scale when compared to the previous iteration. As an added bonus, by connecting a double sided audio cable to the Pulse Headset, you’ll be able to take this baby with you on the road and use it with your cellphone or any other device that has an audio jack!

I actually had a chance to tinker around with the Pulse Headset earlier today at Sony’s “PlayStation on Campus” event and boy are they comfortable. Where the PS3 Stereo Headset would cause me minor discomfort on my ears by pushing up against the ear pieces of my glasses, the Pulse Headset sat comfortably atop my head for a long period of time as I tried out Assassin’s Creed: Liberation on the Vita. This can only be attributed to the incredibly comfortable ear cups that Sony has opted for this time around.

Now how much will the Pulse Stereo Headset set you back? Well, you’ll be able to pick it up for $149.99 but it’s certainly worth every penny. But if you’re not ready to drop $149.99 on the table for this beauty, maybe you’d like a $10 discount? The first person who heads on over to the PlayStation Campus website and enters this code: PU73NT3-X014526 will be treated with a $10 discount on the Pulse Stereo Headset, so hopefully that eases the sting on your wallet a bit.  Announced earlier today on the PlayStation Blogcast, the release date is next week! Get your wallets ready people!
