New Star Wars Battlefront III Pre-Alpha Footage Surfaces – Shows Just What Could Have Been
By now, it’s certainly no secret that before they went under, Free Radical Design was hard at work on the unreleased Star Wars Battlefront 3, fans were treated to leaked footage back in 2009 but sadly, that was the last they would see of the cancelled project. That is, until today! The YouTube user Boreman18 has gotten his hands on pre-Alpha footage of Battlefront 3, and shows us just what could have been.
As Boreman18 notes on his website, Past to Present Online, the footage appears to be from a very rough port of the PC version onto the Xbox 360, as indicated by the “Exit to Desktop” button. While the framerate is horrible, textures fail to load, and the camera seems to have had issues, the game does look like it could have been a success had it been finished. Hopefully another developer picks up where Free Radical left off so fans can finally get the sequal they well deserve. For some screenshots of the pre-alpha footage, head on over to Past to Present Online.
