Today on PlayStation Plus 6/12/12 – Arkham City Trial & Borderlands GOTY Discount
Today’s PlayStation Plus update was brought to you by the letter “L” which in this case refers to the word “late!” All jokes aside, now that the blog has finally updated, we can see what’s up on PlayStation Plus for this week. Having just finished downloading those 12 hefty titles from last week’s “Instant Game Collection” – which is still available by the way – you shouldn’t expect much from today’s update because compared to that one, it really isn’t much. Today’s update holds 40% discounts on Borderlands GOTY Edition, and Split/Second, as well trials for Batman: Arkham City, and Just Dance 3!

Titled “Borderlands Full Bundle” on the PlayStation Blog, this version nets you the same content as the GOTY edition. By purchasing the Full Bundle, you’ll be granted access to all of Borderlands’ DLC as well as the full game itself, for only $19.99, while it surely isn’t the best price – I purchased this same download last Christmas for only $14.99 – there isn’t anything to complain about seeing as how you’re getting a wealth of content that adds many hours to an already meaty game. Borderlands, a first-person RPG, follows the story of our four heroes, aptly dubbed vault hunters, as they comb the world of Pandora in search of the Vault of mythos. This Vault is said to hold mysterious things within its chambers. Does it exist or is this simply a fable of great proportions? Well, you’ll have to purchase Borderlands to find out!
Split/Second is an arcade-racing simulator by Black Rock Studio. Being an arcade-racing simulator, Split/Second exploits this term in every way possible with its over-the-top gameplay mechanics. Taking place during a reality TV show allows Split/Second to be as over-the-top as possible. As players race down numerous tracks, their actions will result in their powerplay meter increasing. The powerplay meter is divided into three levels, with one and two allowing for players to trigger a small event that if timed properly, can cause a number of drivers to crash or lose control of their vehicle, while the third level is reserved for more terrain-changing events. Activating your level three powerplay changes things up as buildings come crashing down and earthquakes sweep the ground from beneath your tires, changing the way you tackle the course, and at times, giving you the upper hand. At only $20.99, this title is a steal, and I would definitely recommend the purchase.
