Shocking Introduction: A First Look at The Expendables 2 for Playstation 3

How do one-up an already over-the-top action flick that already had just about every action movie star from the 80′s? Add Chuck Norris and Jean-Claude Van Damme apparently. The Expendables 2 is in theaters today and for once, the obligatory video game tie-in isn’t a full blown retail release sure to be a waste of money as they inevitably are (ahem… Battleship). This time around, Ubisoft decided to go the downloadable route and The Expendables 2 is now available as a top down shooter exclusively on the Playstation Network.

See all those guys in the picture? Well, you can play as four of them: Sylvester Stallone, Jet Li, Dolph Lundgren and Terry Crews. It would have been awesome of they were all options, but I guess we can settle. As you would imagine, each character has their own special ability. Stallone has can duel wield pistols. Crews has a AA-12 with explosive rounds and a noob tube. Lundgren has a sniper rifle. Li throws knifes. You can play by yourself and switch between characters or four player co-op. The game it most reminds me of is the GI Joe game that came out a few years ago, which could be good or bad depending on how much you hated it. It’s $15 and before investing, I decided to give the trial version a run, and you can see the results below. What do you think? Should I make the investment? If anyone else wants to pick it up, I’d probably grab it for some co-op action. The Expendables 2 is in theaters and on the Playstation Network now.
