Sony: PlayStation Vita Price Cut is Coming
Since the PlayStation Vita – along with its expensive memory cards – were announced, many people have been asking for a price cut. After E3, Gamescom, and even TGS not one price cut was given. Until now that is.
Sony has stated that the PlayStation Vita will be receiving a price cut, just not this year.
“We always aim to establish price cuts. So the question is not so much if, but when. We won’t have an across the board pricedown this Christmas. But what you will see us doing is work very hard with our retail partners to add value to the product to make it more compelling.
“Even this week, there are some tremendously attractive bundles out there, for example Wi-fi Vita plus LittleBigPlanet at the £200 price point. There’s the wi-fi product again plus FIFA 13 plus Uncharted; Golden Abyss plus LittleBigPlanet at not much above the £200 price point,” Fergal Gara, the boss of Sony’s UK branch told Eurogamer.
So knowing that a price cut is imminent and consumers will be able to purchase the Vita for cheaper next year, what’s Sony’s next move? Well the above quote makes it rather evident that Sony’s aiming to release new Holiday bundles to please their skeptical consumers.
Will this work, or might consumers wait until that price cut comes along? Only time will tell, but the Vita is surely going to have an interesting first holiday season.
